Volunteers are a vital part of the overall success of the services and programs offered at Hope Harbour. Training courses are held monthly. Each person who volunteers at our shelter is required to successfully complete a Volunteer Introductory Training that is conducted at a site other than the shelter. Because of the sensitive nature of our business, we must protect our residents by thoroughly evaluating all volunteers and placing them in appropriate positions, based on skills, talent, and interest. An application, 2 references, and a background check begin the process prior to attending training.
Volunteering is very rewarding! The time commitment for each program varies, with the average time commitment six hours per month for a period of six months. Our volunteers assist in the following ways:
Child Care (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 6-7PM)
Organizing Clothing/Linens/Toiletry Closets We have been gifted with many donations of clothing and are in great need of volunteers who will help us keep this organized! (Any time or day that fits volunteer's schedule)
Donations - Assist with pick/up and sorting (Tuesdays a.m. and afternoon)
Special Events - Assists with decorating, planning, and organizing holiday parties, etc.
Mentors/Tutors - For women and children. All areas imaginable!
