Safety Planning

  • Identify a trusted family member or friend you can confide in.

  • During an argument, steer clear of areas where weapons are accessible.

  • Identify a safe place for you and your children to escape in case of danger.

  • Create plausible reasons for leaving in the day or night.

  • Pack an emergency bag and include the abusers clothes as well so they won't be suspicious.

What to Pack

  • ID/Driver's License

  • Birth Certificate

  • Social Security Card

  • Insurance Information

  • House Keys

  • Medication

  • Bank Cards/Credit Cards

  • Important papers for your children

Friends and family may advise you to leave immediately but you know your situation better than anyone else.
Be sure it is safe and the timing is right to leave the situation.
