Hope Harbour's Education and Prevention work happens upstream of crisis. Trainings, awareness events, and prevention curricula for schools, faith communities, employers, and civic groups. The work is built on the conviction that education prevents the violence we would otherwise respond to later.
Education and Prevention work is structured around audiences. Each one gets material designed for them.
Upstream
of crisis is where it begins
Every awareness training, school presentation, and faith leader meeting is one more entry point where someone might recognize a warning sign and act on it before the violence escalates. Prevention work pays compounding interest.

Standard programming is offered free of charge.
Education and prevention programming is the one Hope Harbour service that starts with a contact form or email rather than the crisis hotline. The hotline stays clear for people in immediate need.
Send a training request through our Contact page or email info@hopeharbour.org. Tell us your audience, group size, time available, and any specific topics.
An education coordinator follows up to scope the program. Topics, length, format (single session, multi-session, full curriculum), date options.
Program is delivered at your location or virtually. Follow-up materials and resources go home with attendees so the learning continues after we leave.
K-12 students with age-appropriate material, college students, adult professional audiences, faith communities, and senior groups. Curricula are matched to age and audience. We do not deliver the same material to fourth graders as we do to corporate HR teams.
Single-session programs run 30 to 90 minutes depending on audience and depth. Multi-session curricula run 4 to 8 sessions for schools and similar settings. Standalone awareness events vary based on event design. We tailor length to what your audience can give.
Yes. Employer trainings on recognizing DV impact in the workplace, supporting affected employees, and HR-level response protocols are a regular part of our work. Training can be a one-time session for staff awareness or a deeper program for HR and management.
Trainings are free.
Two to four weeks of lead time is ideal for most programs. Urgent requests are evaluated case-by-case. October fills up quickly because of DV Awareness Month so for October programs reach out by mid-summer.
You do not need to know in advance whether Education & Prevention fits your situation. Call the hotline and an advocate will help you figure out what comes next.
